Troubleshooting
If you sense that your server is operating abnormally, use the
following checks to find the cause of the trouble.
NOTE: Before checking the server, its cables or expansion
cards, first switch off the server and its peripheral devices. If
checks are performed on the cables or expansion cards with
the power on, irreparable damage may be caused to the
server and its peripheral devices.
You can hear abnormal noise or smell foul odours, and hear a
continuous buzzer
Probable causes are that something is touching a fan or other
moving part, or fatal trouble has occurred on the server. Carry out
the following procedure to check the cause of the trouble. If this
does not remedy the problem, turn off the power first, and then
proceed to “Remedy When Windows Server 2003/ Windows
2000 is unusable” on page 210.
