Error Checking
When the server is started, POST will be executed and it will check the mother
board, the memories, the keyboard, and other units.
If an error is detected by POST, an error message will be displayed. A buzzer
will “beep” continuously if the error has been detected prior to display of the
POST window on your display unit.
Startup Trouble
If trouble occurs during the startup of the server, check the following:
Is the power cord connected properly to an appropriately grounded AC
power outlet?
Are the DC operate switch (EPS-R model only) and the power switch
on?
Is the green power lamp ( ) on?
Are all cables connected properly and securely?
Is the ISA/PCI expantion card inserted properly within the appropriate
slot of the mother board and fixed securely with the card holders?
Are all switch settings, including jumper switch settings, of the expant-
ion card and peripheral units appropriate?
Refer to the operating manuals of the expantion card and peripherals for fur-
ther details.
Are the expantion card and the magnetic disk unit connected properly?
Are the format and setting of the added hard disk drive correct?
Is the device driver installed properly?
Are the ambient air temperature, humidity, and other operating environ-
mental conditions appropriate?
Is the OS (operating system) loaded properly and in normal operation?
When the “Switchbox” of the rack model is used, is the server selected?
